Lectures and publications
As speaker and moderator, Sherif El Sebaie took part in numerous meetings, conferences, conventions and round tables such as the Turin International Book Fair, the Turin Spirituality Festival, the History Festival, the Mediterranean Week of the Milan Chamber of Commerce and the Conference of the Society for Middle East Studies.
Sherif El Sebaie regularly lectures on the history and geopolitics of the Middle East, on the Art and Culture of the Islamic world and the History and Art of the Egyptian Civilization at museums and public and private institutions, with great success with the public and the press. His lectures – which last from a minimum of 45 to a maximum of 90 minutes – are based on an informative and multimedia approach, with a rich iconographic apparatus, and are suitable for the general public without sacrificing scientific rigor.
Sherif El Sebaie published “Al-Ka’bah, the forbidden sanctuary of Islam” (2004), with a preface by Prof. Michele Vallaro, Chair of Arabic Language and Literature at the University of Turin and“The Abode of Happiness. The other East between faith and society”(2006), with an introduction by acclaimed italian historian Franco Cardini. He has contributed to several volumes, including “The Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan in the Collections of Italy” (2021) and“The Chamber of Wonders. The mystery of the room in via Porta di Castro” (2014). He also edited the publication “Bread. Nourishment of Eternal Life” (2010) and the English edition of “Magic in Egypt. Jewellery and amulets of the desert and the oasis” (2009) as well as the translation, from Arabic, of Ahmed Shoair’s book, “The Days of Tahrir Square” (2011)
